Experience our nation’s history at Fort McHenry, where the “Star-Spangled Banner” was written, and discover amazing marine life at the National Aquarium, our nation’s best aquarium.

  • Understand the international background and consequences of the War of 1812 as you explore the historic military site first built in 1776 to protect Baltimore during the Revolutionary War. Fort McHenry was not used in battle until the War of 1812, when federal soldiers along with volunteers defended the fort for 25 hours and saved Baltimore from British attack.
  • The beauty of the aquatic world inspires students to be environmentally responsible as they are immersed in the natural environments of thousands of different forms of marine life at the National Aquarium. The marvels of the Aquarium include iguanas in the rain forest exhibit, clownfish living among the tentacles of sea anemones, and thousands of different forms of marine life.
  • Explore one of America’s oldest seaports at Baltimore Inner Harbor.
