2008 SADD NATIONAL CONFERENCE

STUDENT BEHAVIOR CONTRACT

The SADD National Conference you have elected to attend offers many unique opportunities and experiences.  Beyond the educational benefits, the trip offers opportunities to form new friendships and to meet the challenges of independence.

SADD and WorldStrides promote an atmosphere where chaperones and students support one another with genuine respect.  As a student participant, it is your responsibility to help make the trip a positive and enjoyable experience for yourself, fellow students, and chaperones.  All participants are expected to demonstrate high standards of personal conduct and to accept personal responsibility and consequences for their actions.  You are expected to act honestly, courteously, and considerately towards others, including those in your group and anyone else with whom you may come in contact, such as bus drivers, tour guides, restaurant and hotel staff, and members of the general public.  Remember that you are the public face of SADD and your behavior reflects on the organization as a whole.

Our goal at SADD and WorldStrides is to make this conference an educational, safe, and enjoyable experience for everyone.  We ask each individual’s cooperation and commitment to the following behavior guidelines to help meet this goal.

We expect the student/participant to obey the following rules of behavior:

  1. The student will follow the directions, rules, and regulations established by chaperones and SADD staff during the conference.
  2. The student shall not be involved in any way with alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs, vandalism, theft, harassment, or any other type of behavior that is judged by the chaperones or staff to be detrimental to the health, well-being, safety, or reputation of conference participants, SADD, WorldStrides, or the student's personal SADD group.
  3. The student shall comply with all rules and regulations of any groups/businesses encountered during the trip (such as airlines, hotels, bus companies, etc.).  The hotel facilities must be left in the same condition as they were found, and the student is responsible (and parents will be billed) for any damage, including vandalism, graffiti, damaged furniture, sheets and towels, etc.
  4. The student shall respect and follow the directions of advisors, chaperones, and the staff members of SADD National, WorldStrides, and the hotel.
  5. Male and female students may not be in a hotel room together at any time of day or night without an adult advisor present.
  6. Quiet hours at the hotel will be observed from 10:00 PM until 6:00 AM.  At 11:00 PM (or at the conclusion of conference events/activities for that day should they run past 11:00 PM), all students must be in their own assigned rooms and remain there until commencement of the next morning’s activities.  Private security guards will be patrolling the hallways to enforce the rules and ensure that students are kept safe.
  7. Good common sense, respect, and consideration for others and their property should be practiced daily.

If the student should violate any of these rules, he/she may be dismissed from the SADD conference and sent home at the sole discretion of SADD and WorldStrides staff.  In such cases, the parent/guardian will be contacted and the student will be sent home at the parents’ expense.
