Safety and Security

On a WorldStrides program to New York, your child’s safety and security are our Number 1 priority!

Certified Course Leader
Students follow a busy schedule of activities on their WorldStrides program inNew York City. A WorldStrides certified Course Leader guides each group. Course Leaders devote their attention to the students, challenging them to assess and apply what they learn through first-hand experience so they take the most away from the program.

On-site Coordinator
On most WorldStrides programs toNew York City, a WorldStrides staff member stays with the group at the hotel to ensure the group's hotel preparations are in order. Rooms will be checked for cleanliness and movie request functions will be disconnected if possible. Most importantly, on-site coordinators assist with any urgent situations that may arise during the night.

Night Chaperones

In addition to hotel security, WorldStrides provides night chaperones to ensure the safety and security of the students by monitoring the hallways from the late evening to the early morning hours so Program Leaders and Chaperones can rest safe and sound. For added security WorldStrides (whenever possible) books hotels with inside corridors and hallways.

Tour Central Office
WorldStrides has an office inNew York City that is staffed by full-time WorldStrides employees, 24 hours a day. Being so close to program participants fosters an incredible responsiveness to handle any emergency or need that may arise.

Chaperone Handbook
Chaperones receive a handbook filled with recommendations to make sure each phase of the trip - from traveling to your destination, to safety while at the hotel - runs smoothly. The handbook also contains sections detailing what to do "should a medical emergency arise" and includes emergency contact numbers and information.

Selection of Suppliers
WorldStrides contracts with only major airline companies, and we regularly review all of our suppliers, from hotels to meal locations to bus companies, for customer satisfaction and quality.

Prior to Departure
Teachers and chaperones establish rules of behavior before and during a WorldStrides program. Before the group departs, each student is required to complete a Behavior Contract and a Medical Release Form. These forms ensure that all students understand the conduct that is expected of them while on tour and provides WorldStrides with emergency contact information and authorization for treatment in the case of an emergency.

Emergency Cards
Each student will also be given an ID tag that includes important toll-free phone numbers to contact in the case of an emergency.
