Safety and Security

On a WorldStrides program to Florida, your child’s safety and security are our Number 1 priority!

Certified, 24-hour Course Leader
When your child arrives in Florida, his/her group is met by a WorldStrides 24-hour Course Leader, who will travel with the group throughout their WorldStrides program. The Course Leader is responsible for overseeing not only the educational content of the program, but the trip logistics as well. During the day, the Course Leader assists the Program Leader and Chaperones in ensuring that all safety precautions are taken when hiking, snorkeling, or participating in any other group activity. At curfew, your Course Leader will ensure the students are safely in their rooms.

Night Chaperones
In addition to hotel security, WorldStrides provides night chaperones to ensure the safety and security of the students by monitoring the hallways from the late evening to the early morning hours so Program Leaders and Chaperones can rest safe and sound. For added security WorldStrides (whenever possible) books hotels with inside corridors and hallways.

Tour Central Office

WorldStrides has an office that is staffed 24 hours a day, by full-time WorldStrides employees who are trained to handle any emergency that may arise.

Selection of Suppliers
WorldStrides contracts with only major airline companies, and we regularly review all of our suppliers, from hotels to meal locations to bus companies, for customer satisfaction and quality.

Chaperone Handbook
Chaperones receive a handbook filled with recommendations to make sure each phase of the trip - from traveling to your destination, to safety while at the hotel - runs smoothly. The handbook also contains sections detailing what to do "should a medical emergency arise" and includes emergency contact numbers and information.

Prior to Departure
Teachers and chaperones establish rules of behavior before and during a WorldStrides program. Before the group departs, each student is required to complete a Behavior Contract and a Medical Release Form. These forms ensure that all students understand the conduct that is expected of them while on tour and provides WorldStrides with emergency contact information and authorization for treatment in the case of an emergency.

Emergency Cards
Each student will also be given an ID tag that includes important toll-free phone numbers to contact in the case of an emergency.
