Group arrives in Sacramento and is met
by a WorldStrides representative.
California State Capitol Building
Students will see their state legislature in
action and may get the opportunity to
meet with state representatives.
California Vietnam Veterans Memorial
This $2.5 million memorial, designed by
a Vietnam Veteran, was dedicated in
1988.
Lunch
Sutters Fort
Built by Swiss immigrant John Sutter
more than 150 years ago, students will
relive the Gold Rush and understand its
effects on the United States and the
world.
Old Sacramento
Authentic Wagon Ride
Students ride the cobblestones streets
as they did in Old Sacramento during the
1880s.
Old Schoolhouse Museum
Students will appreciate the differences
between their classes and the ones of
pioneer students after participating in an
1850’s schoolhouse lesson.
California State Railroad Museum
The Transcontinental Railroad helped
unite the United States.  Students will
learn the economic, political, social, and
ecological transformations caused by the
Transcontinental Railroad.

Nimbus Fish Factory
Students will learn about the
importance of conservation through the
story of the salmon and steelhead fish
migrations and how man is helping in
that effort.
Travel to Coloma, CA
Olde Coloma Theatre
Students will participate in a Gold Rush
melodrama learning historical and life
lessons.
Lunch
Marshall Gold Discovery Park
Students will see the original spot
where gold was found.  They will
interact with interpreters to fully
understand the significance of the
discovery, and they will be given a
chance to pan for gold.
Pan for gold in the American River
Dinner in Sacramento
Group departs Sacramento for home.
Note: Travel time from different parts of the
state may modify this itinerary.
