California, and the struggles
they faced. Students will eat
pioneer foods, make pioneer
crafts, and interact with
interpreters to learn first-
hand about the earliest
California America settlers.

Students will participate in a
Gold Rush melodrama
learning historical and life
lessons.
Travel to Sacramento
Old Sacramento
Authentic Wagon Ride
Students ride the
cobblestone streets as they
did in Old Sacramento during
the 1800s.

California State Capitol
Building
Students will see their state
legislature in action and may
get the opportunity to meet
with state representatives.
California Vietnam
Veterans Memorial
This $2.5 million memorial,
designed by a Vietnam
Veteran, was dedicated in
1988.

Old Schoolhouse Museum
Students will appreciate the
differences between their
classes and the ones of
pioneer students after
participating in an 1850s
schoolhouse lesson.
California State Railroad
Museum
The Transcontinental
Railroad helped unite the
United States. Students will
learn the economic, political,
social, and ecological
transformations caused by
the Transcontinental
Railroad.
Dinner in Sacramento
Return to hotel

Travel to San Francisco
Ferry to Alcatraz Island
Alcatraz Island
Students will learn about the
strategic importance of
Alcatraz during the Civil War
and its transformation into
the famed prison.
Lunch
Pier 39
Students have free time to
explore the sites and scenes
of Pier 39, located on San
Franciscos embarcadero.
Cable Car Ride
Soak in the sites of the city
as you ride on San
Franciscos historic cable
cars.
Exploratorium
Students will enjoy this
world-famous interactive
science museum with over
650 hands-on exhibits.
Dinner
Group departs San
Francisco for home.
