Sutters Fort
Built by Swiss immigrant John Sutter
more than 150 years ago, students will
relive the Gold Rush and understand its
effects on the United States and the
world.

Travel to Coloma, CA
Check into camp
Camp Activities
Students will immerse themselves into
the lives of the pioneers.  They will find
out why people migrated to California,
and the struggles they faced.  Students
will eat pioneer foods, make pioneer
crafts, and interact with interpreters to
learn first-hand about the earliest
California America settlers.

cross-country journey

Mountain Man presentation
Learn about tinsmithing and
create a souvenir
Check out of camp
Marshall Gold Discovery Park
Students will see the original spot
where gold was found.  They will
interact with interpreters to fully
understand the significance of the
discovery, and how it affected the
development of the State of California,
and the entire World.

Olde Coloma Theatre
Students will participate in a Gold Rush
melodrama learning historical and life
lessons.
Travel to Sacramento
California State Capitol Building
Students will see their state legislature
in action and may get the opportunity
to meet with state representatives.
California Vietnam Veterans
Memorial
This $2.5 million memorial, designed
by a Vietnam Veteran, was dedicated
in 1988.

Travel to San Francisco
Ferry to Alcatraz Island
Alcatraz Island
Students will learn about the
strategic importance of Alcatraz
during the Civil War and its
transformation into the famed
prison.
Lunch
Pier 39
Students have free time to
explore the sites and scenes of
Pier 39, located San Francisco’s
embarcadero.
Cable Car Ride
Soak in the sites of the city as
you ride on San Francisco’s
historic cable cars.
Exploratorium 
Students will enjoy this world-
famous interactive science
museum with over 650 hands-
on exhibits.
Dinner
Group departs San Francisco
for home.
