Les Invalides
The Invalides are a set of buildings in the 7th arrondissement all pertaining to the military history of France. The museums and monuments started as a hospital for aged and ill soldiers. The architect of Les Invalides was Libéral Bruant and the project was initiated by Louis XIV on November 24, 1670. Today it is still used for its original purpose: a hospital and retirement home for war veterans and a burial site for some of France's war heroes.
