Sacre Coeur Church
Sacre Coeur Church is situated on a hill at Monmartre, and came about after a two men vowed to build a church dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Christ during the outbreak of the Prussian invasion in 1870. The construction of the beautiful Roman-Byzantine architecture began in 1875 by Paul Abadie. The building was completed in 1910 and consecrated in 1919.
Fun Facts
- Standing on the stairs of the Sacré-Coeur, one can see a breathtaking panoramic view of Paris.
- The bell tower contains the "Savoyarde." It is one of the world's heaviest towers weighing in at 19 tons.
