Carnavalet Museum
Devoted to the history of Paris, this vast museum occupies two adjoining mansions overflowing with sculptures, furniture, paneling, and paintings. The main building, Hotel Carnavalet, was built as a townhouse in 1548 and was transformed by Francois Mansart during the mid-17th century.

Fun Facts

  • The Hôtel Carnavalet is a Renaissance jewel that became the home of writer Madame de Sévigné in the mid-1600s.

  • Inside the museum you can find an ancient recipe for frog-leg soup.
