Students experience Washington, D.C. when it is alive with festivities surrounding the Presidential Inauguration. Students witness government in action, and will remember forever where they were during this significant historical moment.
Standing at the memorials of past presidents – Jefferson, Lincoln, and FDR – students reflect on the roles of past leaders and ponder what contributions the new president will make to the future of this country. They look upon the White House and the Capitol Building with a new understanding of our country’s legislative process. Through a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, students gain a deeper appreciation of the sacrifices made in the name of freedom. This powerful journey through the history of our nation’s capital is an excellent supplement to social studies curricula.
A highlight of this program is the Inaugural dance, a social event where students celebrate the Inauguration and make friends with other students from across the country.
