WorldStrides hosted 72 teachers from the Irvine area on April 24-25, 2009. The HistoryQuest weekend started Friday evening aboard John Wayne’s yacht, The Wild Goose, for a dinner cruise filled with fun and entertainment. Teachers enjoyed the history behind the boat and were able to meet the captain and even take turns at the wheel! After the dinner cruise, guests stayed in deluxe accommodations at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, compliments of WorldStrides.
Saturday morning, teachers were treated to a full breakfast at the hotel. Following breakfast, Fred O’Connor, Executive Vice President of WorldStrides, introduced teachers to the educational travel opportunities available when traveling with WorldStrides. Guests also met a teacher who currently travels with WorldStrides and heard about her students’ life-changing experiences. Then, Martha Washington stopped by for a visit and entertained the audience with stories of her life as America’s original First Lady. HistoryQuest concluded with excitement as teachers won prizes from a raffle drawing!
